State what the campaign must achieve and the constraint that matters.
Name the metrics or observations that support the concern.
Identify the most likely bottleneck, while acknowledging uncertainty.
Recommend a specific, prioritised action.
Explain which metric or behaviour should change if the diagnosis is right.
State what could go wrong and how you would monitor it.
Structured answer example
“The goal is qualified credit-card applications within the CPL target. CTR is stable, but CVR is weak and mobile form friction is high, so the evidence points further down the funnel rather than to the hook. I would reduce form friction and strengthen trust cues before scaling. If the diagnosis is right, CVR should improve and CPL should fall without a decline in application quality. The risk is attracting more low-intent submissions, so I would monitor completed and qualified applications—not only form starts.”
Common mistakes
“Test more creatives and audiences” does not explain why those actions fit the evidence.
Optimising CTR is incomplete if the role is accountable for profitable sales or qualified leads.
A strong candidate distinguishes evidence from assumptions and proposes a way to learn.
Short-term efficiency may not survive more spend, a wider audience or greater frequency.
An unfocused plan makes cause and effect harder to assess.
Every recommendation should include what you will watch if the change performs differently than expected.
Deliberate practice
